Military men and women get redeployed now and then. Hardly do they stay in one station for many months. Redeployment of military officers mostly affects the spouses especially the ones who has taken up various careers. It becomes hard for the spouse to remain in employment. Taking up a career course is also difficult for a military spouse as they do not know when the next redeployment will take place.
Things have now changed and any career military spouse can take up an online course, thanks to technology. The spouses are able to enroll for distance learning programs while based at any part of the world. There are also universities that allows the student to take up a vocational course from any part of the world. This has come as a reliever to many military spouses who have all along found it difficult to advance their careers as they do not know when the next redeployment will happen.
One program referred to as MyCAA; Military Spouse Career Advancement Accounts is offered as financial aid for military spouses who want to take up careers in different professional fields. Several military spouses have benefited from this scholarship program and have excelled in advancing their careers. MyCAA also benefits the spouses by catering for the fees of any certification of teachers, professionals in medical field or any other professional who requires certification of any kind. The program has made it easier for military spouses to learn and excel.
Beneficially is expected to have an account with MyCAA in order to benefit from the scholarship program. MyCAA then determines if the candidate is eligible to benefit from MyCAA online program or not. Any successful applicant then makes an application, 30 days prior to the start of the courses.
What exactly does MyCAA scholarship cater for? Normally the scholarship caters for the tuition fee, which basically includes tuition and examination fee. MyCAA scholarship also caters for the cost of getting a license or chosen certification from an institution that has been accredited by the government’s accreditation body.
However, while the spouse is taking up MyCAA training program, it is important to note that the program has some areas that it does not cover. Some of the issues not covered includes the fee for courses and examinations that is not included in the military plan for Education and Training. It does not also cater for the courses that the military spouse had already enrolled for, or those that the spouse has already completed.
It does not also cover for deposits or any payment that the candidate wish to make in future, unless the course been paid for is part of the course the spouse has enrolled for. The programs also fails to cater for the costs of uniforms or books that the spouse may need during the training.
