First and foremost, vision is very important for any leader for example a CEO. You must be able to have full knowledge of the business from the inside out when you’re a leader. One thing you must have in mind is where the company is headed and where it ought to be. It is until then that they’ll be able to guide employees and those under them on how things should be handled. The decisions that should be made and the course of action to be taken is dictated by the vision. Through this the company and everyone in them gets a sense of direction.
In the company or business, one important quality is that one must be accessible and approachable by everyone. What has taken over as the approach not is the open-door system. What this system means is that everyone can be able to approach the leadership without any difficulties and put across their hearts and mind concerning certain things that could be troubling them.
One other important quality is respect. If you want people to respect you also have to respect them because respect is one thing that is two-way. Respect your employees even though they are under you and are under your command because it is always good respect. The importance of this is that instead of commanding respect you and respect and peaceful coexistence is created between you and your employees. You also act as a good example that they will emulates when relating among themselves.
Even as you scale up the ladder, one thing that has also been pointed out is learning from people. Even from people who were below as for instance employees, we always learn from those people around us. Scaling up the career ladder shall not make you despise anyone but if anything, it is important that you continue learning from them. Make sure that you apply and put into practice whatever you learn so that it may transform you and seems to be knowledge.
But not least, it is important to be true and honest with yourself and others. People will likewise be true to you as you become true to them.
